Disposal of the HEPA bags
The disposal of the HEPA bags (or the contents of your Extraction Drill if you aren't using a bag) depends on whether you are using the drill as a private individual or as a business professional.
1. Personal Use (At home)
If you are using the drill at home on your own feet, the bag is classified as standard household waste. You can simply place the sealed HEPA bag into your normal household ‘black bin’. It is handled the same way as the dust from a regular home vacuum cleaner.
2. Professional Use (As a Business)
If you are using the drill in a professional capacity (e.g., in a salon, clinic, or as a mobile practitioner), UK waste regulations change. Because you are a business handling nail and skin dust (keratin), the bags are classified as 'Offensive Waste' (professional hygiene waste).
To stay compliant with your "Duty of Care":
- You should dispose of them via a licensed waste carrier. Most professionals use 'Tiger Bags' (yellow with black stripes) for this type of non-infectious hygiene waste.
Because our custom HEPA bags are high-capacity and last up to 100 patients, you won't be disposing of them very often, but following the correct route keeps your business legally compliant and professional.
